Baseball Recap: Montrose Comes Up Short

Montrose was the 8-7 winner over Mountain View when they last played one another back in April, but their luck changed this time around. The Meteors fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 5-4 on Thursday. The Meteors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Christopher McGee was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Montrose is 4-2 when he allows at most two walks, but 3-5 otherwise. McGee was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Adam Sorensen was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Hudson Aukema was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Montrose's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Mountain View, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Montrose will square off against Old Forge at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mountain View, they will face off against Forest City at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
