Baseball Recap: Friday's Win Is Dobie's Eighth in Last Ten Outings

Dobie won the last time they faced Sam Rayburn and things went their way on Friday too. The Longhorns were the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over the Texans. Considering the Longhorns have won ten contests by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Tristan McKissick looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Dobie got a massive performance out of Juelz Martinez, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. Martinez is becoming a predictor of the Longhorns' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 7-11 when he doesn't). Willard Joiner III also deserves some recognition as he hit his first doubles of the season.

Dobie has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Sam Rayburn, they dropped their record down to 5-13-2 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Dobie will take on rival Alvin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Sam Rayburn is set to square off against their familiar foe Pasadena Memorial at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
