Softball Recap: Fort Walton Beach Triumphs

Fort Walton Beach posted their closest victory since March 12th on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the Central Hardin Bruins 6-4. This was payback for the Vikings, who suffered a 10-7 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Rilyn Douglas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Breanna Williams was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one triple. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

Fort Walton Beach's win bumped their record up to 5-12. As for Central Hardin, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fort Walton Beach will host Paducah Tilghman at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Central Hardin, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Lafayette at 9:00 a.m. The Bruins' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Generals have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season.
