Baseball Recap: Taos Triumphs

It may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Taos ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They walked away with a 15-12 victory over the Pojoaque Valley Elks/Elkettes. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Elks/Elkettes recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Jordan Tafoya made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. He has become a key player for Taos: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one hit, but 6-12 otherwise. Tafoya was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Taos got a massive performance out of Jeremiah Gonzales, who went 3-for-6 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits Gonzales has posted since back in March. Miguel Garcia was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Taos kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They are 7-3 when they post 11 or more hits.

Taos' victory bumped their record up to 9-12. As for Pojoaque Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-17.

Taos will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Elks/Elkettes: the pair will be back at it again later today.
