Softball Recap: Kalaheo Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Kalaheo waltzed into their game on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Waialua Bulldogs with a sharp 22-1 win. For the Mustangs, this counts as revenge for the 15-5 victory the Bulldogs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2025.

Ivi Young made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over four innings pitched. Young was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Kalaheo got a massive performance out of Kaylee Akiu (4), who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. What's more, Akiu (4) posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March of 2025. Another player making a difference was Faith Guerreiro, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four RBI and two runs.

Kalaheo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .674. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .553 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Kalaheo picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 6-3. As for Waialua, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Kalaheo will take on Kaimuki at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs will need to watch out since the Bulldogs have now posted at least ten runs in their last four games. As for Waialua, they will head out to take on Radford at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rams' pitching crew has only allowed 0.6 runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
