Recap: Mater Dei Catholic Crusaders vs. Bonita Vista Barons
Even though the Bonita Vista Barons scored an imposing 70 points on Friday, the Mater Dei Catholic Crusaders still came out on top. Mater Dei Catholic walked away with an 81-70 win over Bonita Vista. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Mater Dei Catholic also won the last time the pair played on January 10th.
Maseyo Elliott was his usual excellent self, scoring 18 points along with six rebounds and three steals. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Jefferson, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds.
Mater Dei Catholic's win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 13-11. As for Bonita Vista, their loss dropped their record down to 13-12.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mater Dei Catholic on the road again on Saturday and play against Helix at 4:00 p.m. on January 27th. Helix is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games. As for Bonita Vista, they will head out on the road to challenge Montgomery at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Montgomery will be looking to keep their 11-game home win streak alive.
