Despite the defeat, Hoosac Valley saw an underclassman step up: freshman Tre Moynihan posted 26 points.

The victory got Newington back to even at 4-4. As for Hoosac Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season.
