Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Abilene). They put the hurt on the Amarillo Sandies with a sharp 63-42 victory on Friday. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by 21 points or more this season.
Brayden Henry continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 155 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.1 yards per carry, and also throwing for 206 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. Ethan Joyner also helped out as he racked up 116 rushing yards.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Abilene was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 407 rushing yards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 97 rushing yards per game earlier this season, but in their last three contests they've averaged 303.3.
Abilene wouldn't let Amarillo keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Abilene can thank Aamanni Strahan and Skyler Faimoa for forcing both of them. Faimoa is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least six every time he's taken the field this season.
