Soccer Game Preview: Classical vs. Central

The Classical Purple will head out to face off against the Central Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Classical took a four-goal defeat the last time they faced off against Cumberland, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Purple never let the Clippers get on the board and left with a 1-0 win on Wednesday. The victory was some much needed relief for Classical as it spelled an end to their three-match losing streak.

Meanwhile, Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against East Providence, falling 4-1. While losing is never fun, Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Rhode Island soccer rankings (they are ranked 30th, while East Providence are ranked fifth).

Classical picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 4-6. As for Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-9-2.

Classical suffered a grim 4-1 defeat to Central when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Purple avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
