Baseball Recap: Pendleton Heights Falls Short Against Ranked Mt. Vernon

Pendleton Heights faced Mt. Vernon in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Arabians fell just short of the Marauders by a score of 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Arabians have suffered since April 16, 2024.

Colton Frank was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double was his first of the season.

Frank wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Colin Axel-Adams, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Having lost for the first time this season, Pendleton Heights fell to 10-1. As for Mt. Vernon, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

While Pendleton Heights had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
