Basketball Recap: Mauldin Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Zara Leamon and Destiny Mattison

Mauldin entered their matchup against J.L. Mann on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Mauldin Mavericks took a 50-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the J.L. Mann Patriots. The contest was a 21-21 toss-up at halftime, but the Mavericks couldn't quite close it out.

Despite the defeat, Mauldin had strong showings from Destiny Mattison, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 boards, and Zara Leamon, who posted 14 points and eight rebounds. With that strong performance, Mattison is now averaging an impressive 8.1 boards per game.

J.L. Mann was led to victory by Jade Hailstock and Imari Richardson. The loss was their first at home , dropping their record down to 14-4. As for J.L. Mann, they pushed their record up to 13-6 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road.
