Basketball Game Preview: Kennedy Commanders vs. DSST: Cedar Falcons

The Kennedy Commanders will head out on the road to challenge the DSST: Cedar Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Kennedy has given up an average of 64.5 points per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Having struggled with five losses in a row, Kennedy turned things around against KIPP Denver Collegiate on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 90-75 victory over the White Tigers. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Commanders considering their 30-point performance the game before.

Anthony Zink had another great game (as he tends to do), shooting 5-for-6 from downtown and dropping a double-double with 34 points and ten boards. He has become a key player for Kennedy: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least eight rebounds, but 2-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Xavier Benavidez, who went 7-for-14 to rack up 16 points and six steals.

Kennedy was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since the start of last season.

Meanwhile, DSST: Cedar didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against DMLK on Tuesday, but they still walked away with a 67-62 win.

Kennedy's record now sits at 5-10. As for DSST: Cedar, their record is now an identical 5-10.

Kennedy came up short against DSST: Cedar when the teams last played back in February of 2025, falling 69-59. Can the Commanders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
