Basketball Game Preview: Currituck County Knights vs. Northeastern Eagles

Currituck County is on a 12-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Northeastern is on a 13-game streak of away wins (also dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Currituck County Knights will host the Northeastern Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Currituck County is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 71-33 win over Pasquotank County. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 130th, while the Panthers are ranked 419th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Currituck County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Arianna White, who went 6 for 13 to rack up 20 points in addition to six boards and six steals. White continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Amani Dawson, who went 8 of 12 on her way to 20 points along with seven assists and four steals.

Currituck County was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Meanwhile, Northeastern made easy work of Manteo on Thursday and carried off a 35-14 win. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 21 points or more this season.

Currituck County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. As for Northeastern, their victory bumped their record up to 11-4.
