Softball Recap: Summerfield Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Summerfield entered their tilt with Erie-Mason on Wednesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against the Eagles. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bulldogs have posted since May 27, 2025.

Brea Olmstead spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Summerfield's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Hayley Kohls, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run. Hayden Iott was another, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Summerfield now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Erie-Mason, their loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-3.

Looking ahead, Summerfield will challenge Ida at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Erie-Mason, they will square off against Belleville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles will need to watch out since the Tigers have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups.
