Softball Recap: Naperville Central Has No Trouble Against Metea Valley

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against St. Charles North, Naperville Central was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They blew past the Metea Valley Mustangs 14-3. The Redhawks not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 27th (when they won 15-0).

Shea Meech made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Riley Silvers, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted over her last ten matchups. Another player making a difference was Jamie Saran, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

The victory got Naperville Central back to even at 8-8. As for Metea Valley, their record now sits at 4-10.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Naperville Central is set to challenge their familiar foe Waubonsie Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Metea Valley will face off against rival DeKalb at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
