Recap: Wink Wildcats vs. Buena Vista Longhorns
The Wink Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 22 points or more this season. They blew past Buena Vista 46-14 on the road. Given Wink's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 613th, while Buena Vista is ranked 1368th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Aizlyn Dewberry continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds. That makes it eight consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Wink's points. Crystal Quiroz was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with three steals.
Wink is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for Buena Vista, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wink will face off against Klondike at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Buena Vista will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Grandfalls-Royalty at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
