Softball Recap: Fremont Takes a Loss

Fremont dropped their record down to 6-3-1 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They lost 11-0 to the Fruitport Trojans. The match marked the first time this season in which the Packers were not able to get on the board.

As for Fruitport, their record is now 8-1. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won seven contests by 11 runs or more so far this season.

For Fruitport's part, Brooklyn Russell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Russell has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madyson Prout, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Brylee Dewitt, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
