Volleyball Game Preview: Torres Toros vs. McLane Highlanders

The Torres Toros will take on the McLane Highlanders at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Torres will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.

Torres barely beat Sunnyside the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Toros blew past the Wildcats 3-0 on Thursday.

Torres never let Sunnyside on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-22, 25-10.

Torres relied on the efforts of Gianna Gonzalez, who had 17 digs and two assists, and Alexa Cervantes, who had 18 assists and three digs. Those 18 assists gave Cervantes a new career-high.

Meanwhile, McLane lost 3-0 to Madera South on Thursday. The Highlanders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

McLane was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the third set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-20, 25-23.

Torres now has a winning record of 10-9. As for McLane, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-17.

Torres took their win against McLane when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Toros repeat their success, or do the Highlanders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
