Basketball Recap: Leake County Gators vs. Taylorsville Tartars
The Leake County Gators waltzed into their match on Thursday with five straight wins but they left with six. They snuck past Taylorsville with a 65-61 win. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Leake County found their leader in underclassman Treylon Ricks, who scored 26 points along with two steals. Ricks hasn't dropped below 15 points for eight straight games. Lacurtis Triplett was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with two steals.
Leake County is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a massive bump to their 13-13 record this season. As for Taylorsville, their loss dropped their record down to 12-17.
Leake County won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Gators at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Taylorsville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
