Football Recap: Viewmont Vikings vs. Woods Cross Wildcats

Viewmont extended their losing streak to five on Wednesday, dropping them down to 4-6. They were beaten by the Woods Cross Wildcats 43-7. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Vikings of the 50-34 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Jack Savage threw for 238 yards and one touchdown. Brady Clegg was his top target, picking up 100 receiving yards and one score.

As for Woods Cross, they pushed their record up to 7-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won four games by 21 points or more so far this season.

Woods Cross had a senior duo take command as Viliami Tapa'Atoutai rushed for 205 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 8.2 yards per carry and Jesse Simmons rushed for 137 yards and a pair of scores on only 11 carries. Tapa'Atoutai also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because the Wildcats are undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-3 otherwise.

Looking ahead, Viewmont will head out on the road to face off against West Field at 6:00 p.m. on the 24th. The Vikings will be up against the Longhorns' rather soft defense (which has allowed 28.11 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. Woods Cross does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
