Softball Recap: Owen Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Owen can now relate to. They fell just short of the Randleman Tigers by a score of 4-3 on Wednesday. The Warhorses' loss signaled the end of their ten-game winning streak.

Sophie Neal spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Owen saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hannah Norton, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Owen's defeat dropped their record down to 17-4. As for Randleman, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 19-5.

Owen does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Randleman, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 3-1 win against West Stokes on the 16th.
