Softball Recap: Buchanan Triumphs

Buchanan won the last time they faced Centennial and things went their way on Friday too. The Buchanan Bears walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Centennial Golden Hawks.

Katelyn Baciagalupi spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, CeCe Simas was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI. Thimir Bracamontes also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Buchanan's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Centennial, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Coming up, Buchanan will challenge Chowchilla at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Chowchilla will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Buchanan surely won't give up without a fight. As for Centennial, they will host Clovis West at 12:00 p.m. on Friday.
