Walnut had won five straight games and Myles Wainwright did his part to make it six on Thursday. The Walnut Mustangs ended the year with a bang, routing the El Segundo Eagles 76-52 thanks in part to Wainwright, who went 14 of 20 on his way to 34 points along with six boards and four steals. He is becoming a predictor of Walnut's success: when he posts at least 15 points the team is 9-2 (and 2-3 when he doesn't).

The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Vasquez, who posted seven points and nine assists. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in assists.

Walnut is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.2 points per game. As for El Segundo, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.

Walnut didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 57-52 defeat against La Serna on the 27th. As for El Segundo, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 56-49 loss against San Marino on the 27th.
