Baseball Recap: La Pine Triumphs

La Pine posted their closest victory since March 21, 2025 on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Baker/Powder Valley Bulldogs 4-3. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 last Friday.

La Pine's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Elijah Sparrow, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. That's the most hits Sparrow has posted since back in May of 2025. Another was Dayton Wilkinson, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

The victory made it two in a row for La Pine and bumps their season record up to 6-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Baker/Powder Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Looking ahead, La Pine will face off against Mazama at 3:05 p.m. on Saturday. The Vikings' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Hawks' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Baker/Powder Valley, they will take on Sisters at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bulldogs 3.8, the Outlaws 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
