Preview: Lone Peak Knights vs. Lehi Pioneers
The Lone Peak Knights will head out on the road to face off against the Lehi Pioneers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lone Peak is looking to tack on another W to their nine-game streak on the road.
Last Tuesday, Lone Peak faced Skyridge in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Lone Peak simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Skyridge 69-30 at home. Lone Peak has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 25 points or more this season.
Lone Peak got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Sarah Bartholomew out in front who scored 18 points along with six rebounds. Shawnee Nordstrom was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Lehi waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They took down Skyridge 56-40. That 16 points margin sets a new team best for Lehi this season.
It was another big night for Addy Scrivner, who scored 24 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Hill, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds.
Lone Peak has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-6 record this season. As for Lehi, their victory bumped their record up to 9-6.
Keep an eye on the arc in Tuesday's matchup: Lone Peak have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 7.8 threes per game. It's a different story for Lehi, though, as they've been averaging only 6 threes per game. Given Lone Peak's sizeable advantage in that area, Lehi will need to find a way to close that gap.
Lone Peak came up short against Lehi in their previous meeting back in December of 2019, falling 67-61. Thankfully for Lone Peak, Macie Warren (who scored 23 points along with nine rebounds and two steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
