Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cherry Creek). They secured an 82-78 W over the Rock Canyon Jaguars on Wednesday. This was payback for the Bruins, who suffered a 58-50 loss the last time these two teams met.

Jeremiah Hammond continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 13 of 22 en route to 36 points and six rebounds. Those 36 points gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Betts, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine boards.

Cherry Creek was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

When it comes to explaining why Rock Canyon lost, don't look at Kasen Lehman. Despite the final result, he went 13 for 23 on his way to 31 points and six rebounds. Lehman has become a key player for Rock Canyon: the team is undefeated when he posts at least 15 points, but 1-7 otherwise. Cooper Ellwood was another key player, going 6 of 8 en route to 12 points and five steals.

Cherry Creek moved to 5-7 with that win, which also ended their six-game losing streak. As for Rock Canyon, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

Cherry Creek will be playing at home against Smoky Hill at 7:00 p.m. on January 22nd. As for Rock Canyon, they will venture away from home to face off against Ponderosa at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Ponderosa is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.4 points per game this season.
