Basketball Recap: Clarkson/Leigh's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Saturday

Clarkson/Leigh's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They took down the Wakefield Trojans 58-39. Given the Patriots' advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while the Trojans are ranked 218th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Brynn Settje was her usual excellent self, shooting 6-for-7 from deep and almost dropping a double-double on 21 points and nine steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Baylee Settje, who posted 11 points and seven rebounds.

Clarkson/Leigh smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Clarkson/Leigh has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season. As for Wakefield, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season.

Clarkson/Leigh didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 42-39 loss against Wisner-Pilger on the 28th. As for Wakefield, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 44-31 defeat against Homer on the 27th.
