Baseball Recap: Bagdad Extends Home Winning Streak to Eight

Bagdad had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Joseph City Wildcats. Considering the Sultans have won 14 matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Zayden Sanders looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Aaron Landers was a standout: he went a perfect 1-for-1 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Rowdy Hooper was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Bagdad always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. The last time their OBP was this high was was before the start of last season.

Bagdad pushed their record up to 18-4 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Joseph City, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.

Coincidentally, Bagdad and Joseph City will both be playing Williams the next time they take the field. The Sultans will head out to face the Vikings at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Wildcats will head out to face them at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday.
