Basketball Recap: Winfield Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Winfield had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They secured a 60-55 W over the Hubbertville Lions on Friday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 67-58 back in December of 2024.

Cole Brand and Kane Rushing certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Brand went 5 of 8 en route to 15 points, while Rushing posted 17 points and five rebounds. The game was Rushing's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Blaize Wakefield, who scored eight points.

Winfield's victory bumped their record up to 13-10. As for Hubbertville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-4.

Winfield has already played their next contest, a 67-42 defeat against Decatur on the 18th. As for Hubbertville, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 67-50 win against Berry on the 20th.
