Soccer Game Preview: Machias vs. Penobscot Valley

The Machias Bulldogs will head out to face off against the Penobscot Valley Howlers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Machias came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Narraguagus, falling 4-1. The match was up for grabs at halftime, but sadly Machias struggled afterwards.

Meanwhile, Penobscot Valley didn't have quite enough to beat Fort Fairfield on Wednesday and fell 2-1. Penobscot Valley haven't had much luck with Fort Fairfield recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Machias' defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Penobscot Valley, they suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 6-2-1.

Machias suffered a grim 5-1 defeat to Penobscot Valley in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
