Basketball Recap: Morehead Comes Up Short

Morehead lost against Eastern Alamance back in November and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Morehead Panthers took a 70-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eastern Alamance Eagles. The Panthers' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Despite the loss, Morehead still got an impressive performance from Avery Bigelow, who went 7 of 10 on his way to 20 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. Bigelow has been hot, having also posted two or more blocks the last eight times he's played. Another player making a difference was Cavin Corum, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 13 points.

Even though they lost, Morehead was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February.

It was another big night for Ja'Vier Tinnin, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine assists for Eastern Alamance. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Eichman, who posted 15 points.

Morehead's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Eastern Alamance, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Morehead will take on Carlisle in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Eastern Alamance, they will host Southeast Alamance at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Southeast Alamance has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
