Volleyball Recap: Monday's Victory Is Cardinal Newman's Tenth in Last 11 Outings

Cardinal Newman won the last time they faced Dwyer and things went their way on Monday too. The Crusaders put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 3-0 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Crusaders have posted against the Panthers since September 27, 2017.

While Cardinal Newman might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Dwyer scored at least 18 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-23, 26-24, 25-18.

Cardinal Newman found their leader in sophomore Kerrington Smith, who had 12 digs and three assists. Those 12 digs set a new season-high mark for Smith.

Despite the loss, Dwyer had strong showings from Payton Lotz, who had 13 digs and four assists, and Victoria Addazio, who had 11 assists and four digs.

Cardinal Newman has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season. As for Dwyer, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-11.

Cardinal Newman didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Lake Worth Christian on the 7th. As for Dwyer, they will welcome Wellington at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
