Baseball Recap: Alta Extends Home Winning Streak to Nine

There's no place like home for Alta, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Viewmont Vikings 9-7. For the Hawks, this counts as revenge for the 6-4 win the Vikings walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

Alta got a great performance from Levi Stevenson as he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts Stevenson has posted since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Crew Scheel was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Jose Periera, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Alta kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive games.

Alta pushed their record up to 3-1 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.67 runs across that stretch. As for Viewmont, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Alta didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 13-1 win against West on the 25th. As for Viewmont, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 15-7 defeat against Davis on the 24th.
