Baseball Recap: Halifax County Drops Season-High Score on George Washington

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Halifax County). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the George Washington Eagles a 34-0 shutout on Tuesday. Considering the Comets have won 13 matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

CJ Farley tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Halifax County got a massive performance out of Logan Clark, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave Clark a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Thomasson, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with four runs and three RBI.

Halifax County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .745. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Halifax County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for George Washington, they are on a 17-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-13.

Halifax County has already played their next contest, a 16-6 win against Magna Vista on the 15th. As for George Washington, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Heritage on the 7th.
