Basketball Game Preview: Mulberry Grove Aces vs. Lincolnwood Lancers

The Mulberry Grove Aces are taking a road trip to face off against the Lincolnwood Lancers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Mulberry Grove is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They came out on top against Lebanon by a score of 73-63 on Wednesday. The win was some much needed relief for the Aces as it spelled an end to their seven-game losing streak.

Jackson Icenogle was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 32 points and nine boards. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Landon Sugg, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.

Mulberry Grove smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Lincolnwood hadn't done well against North Mac recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Lincolnwood took down North Mac 51-37. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lancers.

Mulberry Grove's record is now 7-13. As for Lincolnwood, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.

Things could have been worse for Mulberry Grove, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 50-32 loss to Lincolnwood in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can Mulberry Grove avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
