Basketball Recap: Blacksburg Wildcats vs. Greer Middle College Blazers
Make it seven blowout wins for the Blacksburg Wildcats this season. They breezed by Greer Middle College at home to the tune of 65-21 on Friday. The victory was just what Blacksburg needed coming off of a 77-46 defeat in their prior matchup.
Shyrique Parker continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 28 points and 12 rebounds. Parker is crushing the point category: she's posted at least 16 every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jess Ham, who scored six points along with six steals.
Blacksburg's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-10. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.8 points per game. As for Greer Middle College, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season.
Blacksburg will head out on the road to take on the Warriors at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. Greenville Tech Charter will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 243rd, while the Wildcats are ranked 105th). As for Greer Middle College, they will be playing at home against the Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Landrum has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 351 points over their last five games.
