Baseball Recap: Southern Lab Beats Northeast for Their Fifth Straight Win

Southern Lab had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Northeast Vikings as they made off with a 20-2 win. That's more bragging rights for the Kittens, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Jamar Gardner made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Gardner was also big at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He has become a key player for Southern Lab: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-3 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Robert Gordon, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremy Johnson, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Southern Lab always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Southern Lab's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-3. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 20.7 runs over those games. As for Northeast, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's still a better percentage than their 1-6-1 record this season.
