The timing is sure in Valley Falls' favor as the squad sits on six straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Jefferson County North has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.
The home team had won the previous five meetings between Valley Falls and Troy, and Troy kept the tradition alive. Valley Falls lost 21-15 to Troy on Monday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Monday (13), the Dragons still had to take the loss.
Skylar Neiberger stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she scored three runs while going 3-for-5. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jayden Senn, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Neiberger wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Valley Falls kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Jefferson County North scored the most runs they've had this season on Thursday, but it wasn't enough. They came up short against Troy, falling 18-8.
Bowie Weishaar made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Kennadi Hernandez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and two doubles.
Valley Falls' loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Jefferson County North, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
Jefferson County North's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Valley Falls has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .585. It's a different story for Jefferson County North, though, as they've only averaged .354. Will they be able to contain Valley Falls' hitters?
