Football Recap: West Philadelphia Speedboys vs. Manheim Central Barons
West Philadelphia had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell 47-42 to the Manheim Central Barons. While losing is never fun, the Speedboys can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 262nd, while the Barons are ranked 99th).
Several Speedboys players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ahmeir Green, who threw for 407 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 15.7 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 30 yards. Manheim Central got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Logan Kappel out in front who rushed for 57 yards and one score, and also threw for 60 yards and one TD. Caleb Moyer was another key player, rushing for 61 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
West Philadelphia has already played their next game, a 40-6 loss against Sussex Central on the 29th. As for Manheim Central, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 17-6 defeat against Ephrata on the 29th.
