Basketball Recap: Freedom Comes Up Short

Freedom's game on Friday was all tied up 20-20 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. The game between them and the Alexander Central Cougars didn't end well, with the Freedom Patriots falling 51-37. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Patriots of the 53-46 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Alexander Central got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Faith Burch out in front who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 boards. The dominant performance gave Burch a new career-high in rebounds. Meredith Wike was another key player, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten boards.

This is the second loss in a row for Freedom and nudges their season record down to 10-8. As for Alexander Central, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 11-7.

Freedom will challenge Hibriten at 6:30 p.m. on January 31st. As for Alexander Central, they will square off against Hickory at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
