Recap: La Joya Coyotes vs. Mission Eagles
This season hasn't been kind to The La Joya Coyotes, who are still winless after their ninth match. They were dealt a 45-10 defeat at the hands of Mission on Thursday. La Joya was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Mission apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2022.
Diego Salinas was on fire for Mission: he rushed for 127 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries, and also threw for 270 yards and two touchdowns while completing 73.9% of his passes. Salinas' longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Thomas Aparicio, who rushed for 99 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries.
La Joya's loss was their sixth straight at home , which bumped their record down to 0-9. As for Mission, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.
La Joya does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Mission will square off against Weslaco at 7:30 p.m. on November 10th. Weslaco will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line.
