Baseball Game Preview: Geneva Eagles vs. St. John Fighting Herald

The Geneva Eagles will take on the St. John Fighting Herald at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. St. John took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Geneva, who comes in off a win.

On Saturday, Geneva got the win against Conneaut by a conclusive 12-6. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Andrew Oros was incredible, going 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. Geneva is undefeated when Oros posts three or more hits, but 2-9 otherwise. Austin Murphey was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Geneva kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.

Meanwhile, St. John unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They lost 7-1 to University School.

St. John saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Will Anderson, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Geneva's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-9. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for St. John, their loss dropped their record down to 12-4.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Geneva has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like St. John struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
