Basketball Game Preview: Basic Wolves vs. Desert Oasis Diamondbacks

The Basic Wolves are taking a road trip to square off against the Desert Oasis Diamondbacks at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Basic will bounce into Monday's contest after beating Green Valley, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Wolves managed a 46-41 victory over the Gators on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wolves.

Meanwhile, Desert Oasis blew past Clark, posting a 62-20 win. The Diamondbacks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Basic better focus on containing Allyson Pursell and Mia Baskerville as the pair were huge in Desert Oasis' win. Pursell dropped a double-double with 24 points and 12 boards, while Baskerville posted 12 points in addition to eight rebounds and seven steals. The dominant performance also gave Baskerville a new career-high in assists (six). Alyssa Atkins-dowd was another key player, putting up four points and six steals.

Desert Oasis' victory bumped their record up to 12-6. As for Basic, their win bumped their record up to 13-10.

Basic came up short against Desert Oasis in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 39-32. Can the Wolves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
