Dynamic duo of Ashton Beale and Laynie Smith lead Chapel Hill to victory

Recap: Chapel Hill Tigers vs. Eastern Alamance Eagles

The Chapel Hill Tigers won the last time they faced the Eastern Alamance Eagles, and things went their way on Friday too. Chapel Hill came out on top against Eastern Alamance by a score of 61-50. Given Chapel Hill's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 14th, while Eastern Alamance is ranked 203rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Chapel Hill was led to victory by Ashton Beale and Laynie Smith. Beale scored 23 points along with three steals, while Smith dropped a triple-double on 14 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists. The match was Smith's ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Haara Umenwaliri, who scored six points along with 14 rebounds.

The victory makes it two in a row for Chapel Hill and bumps their season record up to 8-1. As for Eastern Alamance, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season.

Chapel Hill will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Pickerington Central at 3:00 p.m. on December 28th. As for Eastern Alamance, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Southeast Alamance at 6:00 p.m. on December 18th.
