Softball Recap: North Monterey County Comes Up Short

North Monterey County had taken Soledad down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Thursday. The Condors took a 14-11 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Aztecs. The Condors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Aztecs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Josslyn Gutierrez was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI and one double. Jazzlyn Paniagua also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for North Monterey County and nudges their season record down to 2-13. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Soledad, they moved to 7-5 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

North Monterey County wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 22-0 loss against Alisal on the 11th. As for Soledad, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 16-6 victory against Rancho San Juan on the 17th.
