Volleyball Recap: Pioneer Comes Up Short

After flying high against Woodland Christian on Friday, Pioneer came back down to earth. The Patriots fell just short of the Franklin Wildcats by a score of 2-1 on Saturday.

Mia Gill paced Pioneer's offense, picking up five kills. Gill got some help from Marisa Bryson and her eight assists. Bryson also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Anika Hildebrandt, racking up three apiece.

Pioneer's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Franklin, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.

Pioneer didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Cosumnes Oaks on the 23rd. As for Franklin, they will square off against Ponderosa at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
