Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Natalia

Natalia gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 9-4 victory over the Lytle Pirates. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-5 back in March.

Arabella Gallegos spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on nine hits.

At the plate, Selyene Gallegos and Leyla Saenz did most of the damage at the plate: Selyene scored three runs while going 4-for-5, while Saenz scored a run while going 3-for-5. Those four hits gave Gallegos a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kira Jimenez, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI.

They weren't the only one making solid contact: Natalia kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The win was the third in a row for Natalia, bringing their record up to 18-6-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Lytle, they moved to 10-9-1 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Natalia is set to square off against their familiar foe Crystal City at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Lytle will challenge rival Cotulla at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
