Section 5 Livingston II recap October 29, 2013

Caledonia-Mumford was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Bishop Kearney. The Raiders came in at 24 in the state poll after placing at number 44 last week.

Caledonia-Mumford extended the longest winning streak in Section 5 Livingston II this week by beating the Kings, 15-12. The win marks fourth in a row for the John Walther's team.

Le Roy's dynamic duo of Mike McMullen and Brian Hodges proved tough for Dansville to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. McMullen threw for 101 yards and 2 touchdowns and Hodges had 32 yards receiving. Nick Egeling helped Le Roy's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 38 yards.

McMullen was a key player and the best on defense this week as the Knights topped the Mustangs. The 5-foot-11 junior forced 1 fumble.

Joey Sotak provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Avon beat Letchworth. He completed 3 passes for 16 yards and also ran for 169 yards. Sotak's favorite target this week was Zack Loomis, who caught 2 passes for 14 yards.

Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Bishop Kearney's Tyler Kirton and JO JO Gause have proven to be a lethal combination. 5-10 quarterback Kirton has thrown for 2,078 yards this season, while Gause has 54 catches for 1,003 yards. Sotak from the Braves leads the league in rushing with 967 yards.

Sotak of the Avon is just 33 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Sotak has rushed for 967 yards on 125 carries so far this year.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Andy Englert's team takes on the Tigers. As it stands, the Braves are in fourth, while Warsaw is in fifth.
