Softball Game Preview: Manawa Wolves vs. Assumption Royals

The Manawa Wolves will venture away from home to take on the Assumption Royals at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Manawa is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last six games.

Manawa gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Bonduel, sneaking past 3-2.

Olivia Zielke spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on one hit and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Lily Krenke was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

Manawa hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bonduel struck out nine times.

Meanwhile, Assumption got themselves on the board against Edgar on Tuesday, but Edgar never followed suit. They didn't even let the Wildcats on the board, marking their second-straight 5-0 shutout. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Royals.

Manawa pushed their record up to 8-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. As for Assumption, their record now sits at 8-3.
