The Brockway Rovers will venture away from home to challenge the Clarion-Limestone Lions at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Clarion-Limestone took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Brockway, who comes in off a win.
Brockway will bounce into Saturday's contest after beating Brookville, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. The Rovers skirted past the Raiders 6-5.
Zayden Faith made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Faith was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Brockway let Ben Yale and Eric Decker run wild. Yale went 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double, while Decker went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Those RBI marked the first that Decker brought in this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Gage Park, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.
Brockway lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Clarion-Limestone was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 11-6 to St. Marys.
Clarion-Limestone saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alex Love, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Brockway has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Clarion-Limestone, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.
Brockway skirted past Clarion-Limestone 2-1 when the teams last played last Friday. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rovers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
